Review - Eating Lunch at Mi'hito Sushi Laboratory (Toronto, Ontario)

1:11:00 PM

Hello fellow foodies! Life has been very busy for me with family and work. I'm still active and eating well around Toronto. I will try to see if I can get back into a cadence of 1 post a week again. Instagram really has made blogging more difficult as you can take a quick pic with some captions...

I normally don't visit downtown Toronto often but when I do, I try to see what food places would be worth visiting. For this lunch adventure, my foodie colleagues suggested that we try GB Hand Pulled Noodles (located near Edward and Bay St). Unfortunately, there was a huge line up already at 12pm and I had a meeting to attend at 1:30 pm ... My colleague and I had passed by a Mi'hito Sushi Laboratory on the way here and decided to try out the place. I had first heard of this place via massive Instagram advertising with the food events. I was hesitant about these places due to emphasis on "food porn" and not food quality.

Atmosphere:
We walked in around lunch time on a Friday with only 2 customers. The place wasn't large at all with some window seats and stool seats along the wall. The place was clean and mostly cozy.

Service:
The staff were friendly and took time to answer my questions about recommendation dishes.

Food:
The menu was simple offering customers the choices of Sushi Burrito, Ahi Poke Bowl, Sushi Taco and regular Sushi Rolls. I decided to get the popular Rising Sun (with Salmon option) which has lettuce, cabbage, avocado, tempura crunch, tobiko, carrot, crab meat, green onions with spicy mayo dressing. Overall, the presentation was very nice as you can see all the different fresh ingredients at the cross section. In regards to the taste, the spicy mayo sauce worked very well to blend the different ingredients and textures together. The portion sizes were good with this being quite a healthy choice (if you ignore the mayo). For other non burrito dishes, you can pre pick the ingredients you want to build your meal.

Verdict:
Overall, it was a good meal despite the small restaurant. My colleague and I agreed that it definitely would be worth revisiting in the future. Who would have thought this Sushi Burrito idea was executed very well.
